Roger Goodell apologizes for how he handled Ray Rice situation
By Sam Richmond
Just about every football fan is in agreement that NFL commissioner did not handle Ray Rice’s domestic dispute properly. Though it was well-known that Rice had knocked his now-wife Janay Rice unconscious during a physical altercation in February, Goodell only suspended Rice for two games in July.

It wasn’t until video recently surfaced of Rice’s incident that Goodell came down hard on the running back, suspending him indefinitely.
Many felt that Goodell should have acted stronger in the first place and not needed video evidence to punish Rice significantly.
Well, Goodell, during a press conference meant to address the recent troubling incidents involving NFL players, acknowledged and apologized for his mistakes in handling Rice’s situation.
Goodell is clearly in face-saving mode, so it’s not too big of a surprise to hear him make this admission. Whether Goodell truly regrets how he handled Rice’s dispute for the right reasons (not because it simply turned out to be a public relations disaster), it’s hard to know.
Regardless, Goodell did about the only thing he can do at this point and apologize. However, he shouldn’t hold his breath for NFL fans to forgive him right away.
