Although the San Francisco Giants lost to the San Diego Padres on Friday night, they still sit just 3.5 games behind the division leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

Catching Los Angeles won’t be easy, though San Francisco will embark on a three-game series in So Cal on Monday night with the division crown on the line. That’s something San Francisco Giants pitcher Jake Peavy is well aware of as he told Hank Schulman that he’s already been thinking of the Los Angeles Dodgers, specifically infield speedster Dee Gordon who came across his mind in the shower.

“I’m not going to lie to you,” Peavy said. “I was just in the shower thinking about Dee Gordon. Isn’t that crazy? I was in the shower thinking about how I’m going to get Dee Gordon out.”

Peavy, who’s been known to march by the beat of his own drum once or twice drew some laughter with the comment which eventually made its way to Gordon. His response? Well, he wasn’t interested in giving a quote to the media but rather preferred to send Peavy a special photograph.

Well, it’s certainly not the overly intense rivalry between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants that it once was, though it’s clear both are ready to get down to business early next week.
