Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant loves basketball, but shockingly it’s soccer that has his heart.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Growing up in Italy, Kobe played the sport religiously and as an adult follows it with the passion of the most obsessed fan. Of course, that ‘fan’ has a lot of money in his bank account and is already thinking of post-basketball life as he’s rumored to be part of a group attempting to purchase Bologna FC 1909.

"Kobe Bryant has been linked to a group attempting to purchase the Italian soccer team Bologna FC 1909.According to La Gazzetta, attorney Joe Tacopina is trying to put together an ownership team featuring the Lakers All-Star guard, along with Montreal Impact (MLS) owner Joey Saputo."

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first nor the last time a professional athlete has become an owner of a team though it’s pretty rare to have a player actually still be active while being an owner, all be it a completely different sport and league.

You may recall, Kobe Bryant actually entertained the thought of playing in Italy during the NBA’s previous lockout and routinely visits the area during the offseason.

There’s currently no word on how advanced any purchase talks are, though adding Bologna FC to his arsenal would be just one of many moves made to bolster Bryant’s portfolio. The NBA icon has a line of sports drinks, a Nike endorsement deal and more.
