Patrick Patterson tweets about Hope Solo domestic violence arrest

The sports world is caught up in a domestic violence epidemic at the moment and it’s something that not everyone sees eye-to-eye on. While a large majority of the public supports the anti-abuse stance that the professional sports leagues are taking, not everyone agrees with how the cases are handled.

There’s a Straw Man approach to the punishment of Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and others that women account for 30 percent of domestic violence cases in America. Hope Solo falls under this percentage as she was arrested for domestic violence this past year when she attacked a family member at a get-together.

NBA player Patrick Patterson is in the group calling for fair treatment with domestic violence and pondered aloud why Hope Solo is still allowed to play soccer when her male counterparts in the sports world are being suspended in bunches.

It’s a valid question to raise when it comes to equal treatment but let’s not go comparing female domestic violence to male domestic violence. male aggression still accounts for at least 70 percent of all domestic abuse situations and that’s something that has to change in society.

Plus, Hope Solo plays in a league not governed by the NFL, MLB or NBA so while equal punishment is a fair game to talk about, it’s not something that is required.
