Ray Allen has a decision to make about what he wants to do with his future. He’s not a young man but he’s not crippled by old age just yet, which has him pondering retirement from the NBA. Many believe he has enough gas in the tank for one more season but it’s all up to Allen what he wants to do next.

More from NBA

If what he chooses to do next involves a return to the NBA, then there is one team that is still getting mentioned continually with Allen. The San Antonio Spurs robbed Allen of the chance to retire on top this past season which may cause him to join rank in 2014-15.

As Jesse Blancarte Basketball Insiders points out, the likelihood that Allen returns is up in the air but if he comes back it’s going to be with a true contender and not a borderline one.

"It seems more likely that if Allen is to return for one final year, it will likely be with a team that is a favorite to win it all next season, like the Spurs. We won’t know for sure until Allen makes up his mind, a decision that reportedly may not be made until midseason."

Allen going to the Spurs or Cavaliers seems to be what will end up happening as his career doesn’t have many years left on it and this 2014-15 campaign could be it. In fact, Allen may just call it a career without even signing with anyone which wouldn’t be surprising either.

Either way, if Allen is going to return to the NBA it’s going to be with a contender who can put him in the NBA Finals and give him a to retire on top.
