Santonio Holmes does not plan to greet any of his former New York Jets’ teammates when his new team, the Chicago Bears, arrives for a week 3 showdown on Monday Night Football.

He does not plan to shake hands, give out bro hugs, talk about the kids, or anything of the sort. There will be no catching up, just business.

While that sort of laser-like focus on the game might seem admirable, there might be more to it than that. Holmes might feel a little bit slighted by his former teammates. According to the veteran wide receiver, nobody from the Jets has tried to keep in touch with him. No text messages. No phone calls. No faxes. No pages. Nothing.

Here is what Holmes had to say about facing the Jets and why he won’t greet his former teammates, as passed along by Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times:

"Santonio Holmes hasn’t gotten a single text message from his former Jets teammates this week, and doesn’t plan on shaking hands when them before the Bears’ game in New York on Monday night.“My focus is on the Chicago Bears, making plays and win ballgames,” he said. “Not on any other team.”"

It seems reasonable to expect Holmes to play with a little bit of an extra edge in this game. He might have opportunities to step up and make it hurt for his former team due to lingering injuries to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. It should be an interesting subplot to Monday’s game.
