Charles, who miraculously returned to practice last week just days after suffering a high ankle sprain, will test out his ankle during the pre-game warmups before the Chiefs medical staff determines whether or not he will be fit to go.
While there is some sliver of hope, it would be wise to avoid getting too optimistic.
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, Charles is unlikely to play.
“Unless something happens later today to convince Reid that Charles is 100 percent, Charles will be down today,” Glazer said during the pre-game show.
That would leave Kniles Davis as the Chiefs starting running back in Week 3.
On the opposite side of the ball, the Miami Dolphins will also be without their top running back after Knowshon Moreno suffered a dislocated elbow last week.
