Washington Huskies’ head coach Chris Peterson made a habit of going out west and finding hidden gems while with the Boise State Broncos.

Although the Huskies don’t have the allure of the Oregon Ducks, UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans on the west coast, the Huskies have been a power in the past and certainly have a better recruiting base than the Broncos. That’s likely why Peterson took the job.

Over the weekend, Peterson went into California and picked up a commitment from 3-Star outside linebacker D.J. Beavers.

The 6’2.5, 200-pound is from Encino, California and attends Crespi, California.

Beavers announced the choice via twitter.

Beavers is ranked as the country’s 32nd-best outside linebacker prospect, the 55th-best overall prospect from the state of California and the 443rd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. He also holds offers from the California Golden Bears, Miami Hurricanes and Washington State Cougars, among others.

He is the Huskies’ 14th commitment and their class now fifth nationally and 36th in the country.
