Jake Locker reportedly hurt his wrist in the Week 3 match between the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals. As a result, his status is in limbo for the Titans’ Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports that Jake Locker could barely hold onto the ball by the end of the team’s loss to the Bengals on Sunday and will undergo an MRI on Monday to examine the damage. As a result, coach Ken Whisenhunt wouldn’t commit to making Locker available for Tennessee’s first game against the Colts this season.

This could of course be awful news for Titans fans, who have become used to watching their team play without its starting quarterback. However, Locker has played poorly in his last two games and this might be the result of an injury suffered even in Week 2. If the team has a chance to repair Locker’s wrist and get him back to 100% before mid-season, the Titans still might have a chance to make some noise in the wide-open AFC.

If Jake Locker can’t go in Week 4, the team will turn to Charlie Whitehurst. Whisenhunt said he had plenty of confidence in Whitehurst to get the job done, should the team need him.
