The Pittsburgh Steelers won their Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers, but the win came at a cost as three defensive starters were injured and will miss considerable time moving forward, but the team received some favorable news in regard to Ryan Shazier’s injury.

Shazier is expected to miss a “few weeks” according to CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora with a sprained MCL suffered in the win, but it is considered relatively minor, according to NFL Media Insider, Ian Rapoport.

The team’s first round pick out of Ohio State was expected to play a significant role on defense as evidenced by his starting from Day 1, which is incredibly rare for a Steelers defender, but the good news is that he will be back and sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately for the Steelers, he will miss a few games, but the schedule sets up favorably for him to be out of the lineup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars on the schedule the next two weeks before a road date against the division rival Cleveland Browns in three weeks and the Houston Texans in four weeks.

The Steelers should win all of those games without Shazier and will hope to have him back for the Week 8 game vs. the Indianapolis Colts at the latest.

Pittsburgh, however, was not as lucky with the fates of Ike Taylor who broke his arm and could be a candidate to be placed on injured reserve with a designation to return and Jarvis Jones is undergoing wrist surgery and his return is to be determined.
