Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta is still in the hospital with a dislocated right hip that he suffered in Sunday’s game at Cleveland. Pitta is scheduled for more tests to see if his hip is fractured.

Baltimore took home a 23-21 win over Cleveland, but left an important member of their team in Cleveland when Pitta was carted off the field before halftime in the game.

The severity of Pitta’s injury could even mean it’s a career ending injury depending on the fracture.

Pitta, who was tied for the team lead in receptions entering the game, lost his balance on a catch and collapsed to the ground without contact, typically a sign for a serious injury. He was put on a stretcher and eventually hospitalized at Cleveland University Hospital. Pitta had surgery on his right hip last season.

“I don’t know how serious it is,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said after the Ravens’ 23-21 win. “I haven’t heard. He told me on the field that it wasn’t as bad as before. I don’t know what that means. I’m just going to be praying and hoping for the best there. That’s just so disappointing.”

Pitta signed a five-year, $32.5 million contract seven months ago — a deal that included $16 million guaranteed. In three games this season, Pitta had 16 catches for 125 yards.

Tight end Owen Daniels, who formerly played for Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak in Houston will replace Pitta. Hopefully Pitta will see the field again.
