The Jazz inked a deal with veteran guard Dahntay Jones, who had interest from several teams and worked out for both the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers.

Jones last played during the 2012-13 season. He appeared in 28 games for the Atlanta Hawks and 50 for the Dallas Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 3.4 points  1.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game for while shooting 36.9% from the field,  22.4% shooting from beyond the arc and 77.0% from the free throw line.

Jones’ agency, Priority Sports, reported the deal

Jones is likely a body for camp but may have the talent to stick around on a roster, especially a team like the Jazz, who are filled with young players and could use some veteran leadership.

Jones, a former Duke Blue Devil, was originally drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 20th-overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He’s played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers in addition to the Hawks and Mavericks. In his 10-year career, he’s put up 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 44.1% from the floor, 33.4% from three and 75.1% from beyond the arc.
