The Baltimore Orioles already know that they will be playing in the American League Division Series. Furthermore, they know that they will have homefield advantage in that series, with the only thing left to be decided being whether they can beat out the Los Angeles Angels for homefield throughout the playoffs or not.

When the Orioles take the field in front of their home crowd for game 1 of the American League Divisional Series, they will send Chris Tillman to the mound as their starting pitcher. Manager Buck Showalter announced the decision on Tuesday (from Roch Kubatko of MASN):

"Orioles manager Buck Showalter made the expected announcement today, naming Chris Tillman the Game 1 starter in the Division Series on Oct. 2 at Camden Yards.Showalter didn’t reveal the other names, saying again that he’s considering all the matchup possibilities while waiting on the opponent. However, Wei-Yin Chen is likely to start Game 2."

Tillman is 13-5 with a 3.36 ERA in 31 starts this season. For a rotation that desperately needed somebody to step up as a front-line guy, Tillman has answered the call and will be rewarded with the starting when the Orioles take the field to start the playoffs.
