Ryan Tannehill’s leash might be a little longer than Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin has been willing to let on.

More from Miami Dolphins

Philbin was noncommittal on Tuesday about Tannehill’s status as the team’s starting quarterback.

However, Philbin very well could be trying to motivate Tannehill or play mind-games with Miami’s Week 4 opponent, the Oakland Raiders, considering Dolphins players appear confident that Tannehill was remain the starter.

Sticking with Tannehill is the right move for Miami. While the former Texas A&M quarterback hasn’t excelled this season, he also hasn’t been the reason Miami is 1-2 right now. The team has many problems that extend beyond its quarterback.

The Dolphins drafted Tanenhill with the No. 8 pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.  Matt Moore is the Dolphins’ backup quarterback behind Tannehill.
