Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin was unwilling to name Tannehill his starter on Monday, and 24 hours later it appears nothing has changed.
Tannehill has struggled throughout Miami’s first three games this season, throwing for 624 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions (74.1 passer rating). But it would be a curious decision by Philbin to go away from Tannehill, considering his upside and the fact that the team drafted him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
Behind Tannehill on the depth chart is Matt Moore, who is certainly a viable option. Moore threw for 2,497 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions (87.1 passer rating) in 2011, the season before Tannehill arrived and took his job.
One has to figure Tannehill remains the favorite to start, but at this point it would be unwise to rule out Moore getting the nod.
