Geno Smith wasn’t great during the New York Jets’ Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, throwing for 316 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions (71.5 passer rating).

However, Jets head coach Rex Ryan doesn’t sound like a guy ready to make a change at the starting quarterback position. Ryan defended Geno’s ability and said Smith’s teammates were behind him.

Still, it’s hard to imagine Vick not seeing the field soon. This is a make-or-break year for Ryan as head coach of the Jets and it shouldn’t be long until he turns to Vick to see if he can turn New York’s offense around.

New York drafted Smith with the No. 39 pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. The team signed Vick this offseason as a free agent.

The Jets will face off against the Detroit Lions next Sunday at home.
