The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have gotten off to a disaster of a start.

After being competitive in losses to the Carolina Panthers and St. Louis Rams, both of which played without their starting quarterbacks, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were destroyed by the Atlanta Falcons 56-14 on Thursday night. When you lose like that, there is no one area to place the blame.

However, the Buccaneers clearly weren’t happy with a few of their wide receivers and made a move there Tuesday.

According to Greg Auman of The Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers released Chris Owusu and signed Louis Murphy, who the team released just prior to the season.

"Looking for help after an 0-3 start, the Bucs continue to tweak their roster, waiving receiver Chris Owusu on Tuesday and re-signing former Lakewood and Gators receiver Louis Murphy, who was among the team’s final cuts.Owusu, who caught a touchdown pass in the season opener and returned a kickoff 45 yards against the Rams, had played zero offensive snaps in Thursday’s loss at Atlanta, though coach Lovie Smith had said an ankle injury had factored in that decision. Murphy, whose contract would have been guaranteed if he’d made the opening-week roster, is on his fourth NFL team in as many seasons but gives the Bucs another veteran at receiver."

Murphy had six receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown in 14 games with the New York Giants last season. Murphy, who was the 124th-overall pick in the fourth of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, spent his first three seasons in Oakland before joining the Carolina Panthers for the 2012 season. He has 121 career catches for 1,744 yards and eight touchdowns.

Owusu has two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown this season and has 16 receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown in his three-year career, all with the Buccaneers.
