Tigres v Queretaro final score: Tigres advances; Los Gallos Blancos fall out of Copa MX with 1-0 loss

The group stage of Copa MX wraps up this week, so we are in for a busy two days of the second leg of matches in the Copa MX Llave 3. On Tuesday night, Tigres and Queretaro took center stage at Estadio Universitario.

More from Liga MX

Tigres had won the first leg between the two teams on Queretaro’s ground which meant Los Gallos Blancos would need a win on the round to advance.

After an evenly matched game between the two sides, Tigres was finally able to break through in the 63rd minute.

Jesús Dueñas, who was sent on in the 49th minute to replace Guido Pizarro, put together an impressive individual effort into the box before creating separation and finding a lane to the goal.

Dueñas fired off the left-footed shot to beat Queretaro’s Víctor Hernández to the bottom left corner.

With time running out, Los Gallos Blancos had their backs to the wall and were in danger of falling out of Copa MX.

Queretaro had a handful of chances down the final stretch to draw even with Tigres, but Nahuel Guzmán was calm in goal and making his stops look easy. Queretaro was unable to mount one final attack before the final whistle and Tigres held on for the 1-0 lead.
