Tony Dungy says he would not draft Jameis Winston
By Jack Crosby
The big story in college football this past week has surrounded Florida State quarterback and reigning Heisman winner Jameis Winston. Winston was suspended for the entire Clemson game last Saturday following an incident on campus in which he yelled a sexual obscenity, which has once again led to questions about his character.

Well, whenever we’re on the subject of character and football players, Tony Dungy always has a little something to say, and this situation is no different.
Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday morning, Dungy did agree that Winston’s character is a concern. It’s so much a concern that he would not draft him onto his team.
“As of now, I wouldn’t. I’d have to do a lot of research and go in and talk to him. But you don’t want the face of your franchise, the guy you’re going to take with a top-five pick, to have those off-the-field issues,” Dungy said Tuesday during an interview on The Dan Patrick Show. “You just don’t. Where you’d have to draft him, no, I’d be very, very hesitant at this point.”
Since this latest situation, there have been a lot of opinions about the future of Winston in the NFL. He is eligible to leave Florida State following this season and before this season got underway, most considered it all but a certainty that he would be leaving. But now there are some of the opinion that he needs one more year in Tallahassee to mature.
