The San Francisco 49ers quarterback said again on Wednesday that he did not direct a racial slur towards the Chicago Bears’ Lamarr Houston when the Niners and Bears faced off in Week 2, according to ESPN.
"after Sunday’s loss at the Arizona Cardinals, Kaepernick said he does talk on the football field when he was asked about Houston changing his story but that he did not say anything “racially derogatory” toward Houston. Is that his final word on the matter, that he said nothing of a racial matter that night?“Yes,” Kaepernick said. “I’ve said that multiple times.”"
Houston told the Chicago Tribune that Kaepernick used “inappropriate language” that included the n-word when speaking to him after a play. The NFL is trying to crack down on racial slurs being used on the field, so Kaepernick was flagged for an unsportsmanlike penalty and fined $11,025 last week.
With Kaepernick maintaining his innocence, it doesn’t appear if we’ll ever know the full truth, given the conflicting stories from Kaep and Houston.
For what it’s worth, Niners coach Jim Harbaugh took his quarterback’s side.
"“I have never heard Colin use that word,” Harbaugh said. “And I’ve never heard him lie.”Then does Harbaugh think the reports are inaccurate?“I think what I think,” he said. “I’m very attuned to hearing that word, and I’ve never heard him use it.”"
Kaepernick and the Niners will take on the Eagles at home this Sunday.
