During Media Day this morning in Miami, Mario Chalmers chose to bow out with a biting (albeit confident) remark:

Of course, if you’re a Heat fan, this is what you want to hear. Right?

Since Lebron’s departure, there’s been speculation about what kind of aftermath the superstar left in Miami. Prior to James’ arrival in the Sunshine State, he was filling stadiums in Cleveland (according to Forbes, Cavs attendance was at 100% during the 2009-2010 season), while Miami spent two of the three years pre-LBJ netting losses. Once he made the move, the two cities reversed roles- Cleveland saw a twenty percent decrease in fan attendance at games (hitting only 84.3% stadium capacity in 2013-2014), while Miami has averaged about $23 million in profits per each of the past three seasons.

Do I think that money is the best way to determine whether a team will win or not? Nah. Do I think that Miami is undeniably going to suffer without Lebron, both financially and on the court? Probably.

Regardless, Chalmers has served; ball’s in your court now, Lebron.
