The Arkansas Razorbacks could smell it. The Hogs were going to snap their 13-game SEC losing streak and get Bret Bielema’s first SEC win, but a missed field goal, Kenny Hill and a clutch defensive series by the Texas A&M Aggies resulted in the streak extending to 14 in the 35-28 overtime loss.

The game between the Hogs and the Aggies was supposed to be an offensive explosion with the No. 4 and No. 2 scoring offenses in the nation, respectively, but most significant plays in the first 58 minutes were made on special teams and defense.

With both teams trading touchdowns in the first two quarters it was Arkansas who stole momentum at the end of the first half with a fake punt executed perfectly by punter Sam Irwin-Hill who raced 51 yards to the end zone to give the Hogs a 21-14 lead at the break.

Brandon Allen found converted tight end A.J. Derby for a 44-yard touchdown to extend the Arkansas lead to 28-14 as the passing game was able to support the rushing efforts of Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams who were once again dominant.

With the Hogs limiting Heisman Trophy candidate Kenny Hill for the first three quarters it appeared the Hogs would walk away with the win, but Hill found Edward Pope for an 86-yard touchdown after the cornerback fell down to set the stage for a dramatic finish.

Texas A&M was still trailing by a touchdown, but after Arkansas forced Hill into his second interception of the year when Carroll Washington leaped high and came down with the pick it once again looked like the Hogs were going to snap their 13-game SEC losing streak.

Arkansas tried to run out the clock and put the game away but a fumbled center-quarterback exchange and John Henson missed 44-yard field goal that would have given the Hogs a 10-point lead with 2:29 left in the game was wide left and gave hope to the Aggies.

Two plays later, Hill found Josh Reynolds for a 59-yard touchdown on two-play, 73-yard scoring drive that took 21 seconds to tie the game at 28 with 2:08 remaining in the game.

Following a three-and-out by Arkansas, Texas A&M had an opportunity to win the game in regulation but the Arkansas forced a fourth down and the Aggies were content heading to overtime.

After being somewhat fortuitous to get to overtime, Hill and the Aggies offense wasted little time in overtime as he found Malcome Kennedy on the first play for a 25-yard touchdown and put the pressure on the Razorbacks.

Arkansas relied on their running game on the first two plays in overtime but couldn’t find much running room with true freshman Myles Garrett coming up large for the Aggies.

Following a third down pass that brought a fourth-and-2, the front from Texas A&M made their biggest stop of the year as they stoned Collins who was stopped in his tracks behind the line of scrimmage as the Aggies escaped to improve to 5-0 and drop the Hogs to 3-2.
