Auburn vs. Louisiana Tech final score: Tigers maul Bulldogs 45-17

It was no mission for the Auburn Tigers Saturday as they dominated the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at home in Jordan-Hare Stadium 45-17. Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall stood out for the Tigers with 166 yards passing and three touchdowns on 10 completions as well as 105 rushing yards.

Auburn got their first score mid way through the first quarter when defensive end Montravius Adams picked off a pass, and returned it 36 yards leading to a Cameron Artis-Payne  5-yard touchdown run to give Auburn a 7-0 lead after two blank offensive possessions.

After a field goal and a 10-0 lead, Nick Marshall through an 18-yard throw to Duke Williams which was tipped by linebacker Tony Johnson, but Williams managed to adjust to the tipped pass and catch it between two defenders by stretching his left arm in front of defensive back Xavier Woods at the goal line. This made the score 17-0 Auburn.

After a Lousiana Tech fumble forced by cornerback Jonathan Jones and recovered by defensive tackle Montravius Adams, Nick Marshall was able to throw a beautiful pass over the shoulder of Quan Bray for a 37-yard touchdown on third-and-10. This made the score 24-0 Auburn just before halftime.

After Louisiana Tech scored a field goal just before the half, they were the first to score in the second half as the Bulldogs drove 49 yards on five plays with the highlight coming on Jarred Craft’s 36-yard run. Kenneth Dixon capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. This made it just a 2-touchdown game, 24-10 Auburn in the third.

Early in the fourth, Nick Marshall was able to roll right and throw a deep ball to Quan Bray, who comes down with the touchdown catch over a Louisiana Tech defender for 44 yards. This extended Auburn’s lead to 31-10.

After Auburn forced a Lousiana Tech punt, Quan Bray returned a punt 76 yards for a touchdown and Auburn has put the game away. Bray also finished with three catches for a career-high 91 yards and two touchdowns.

After a rushing touchdown by Louisiana Tech, even the Auburn back ups were able to score as back up quarterback Jeremy Johnson completed an impressive drive with C.J. Uzomah keeping his feet in bounds for a 15-yard touchdown pass and catch to give Auburn the 45-17 lead and they would milk the clock to win by that score.

This is Louisiana Tech’s second straight loss after a demoralizing 30-27 loss t0 FCS Northwestern State last week. The Bulldogs are now 2-3 and they’ll host UTEP next Saturday.

It was a clean, solid win for Auburn as they’re now 4-0 and will start to prepare to welcome the LSU Tigers to Jordan-Hare Stadium next Saturday in a key conference game.
