Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel was bothered in practice this week by a sore abdomen, but he is active and will start against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday.

Manuel will be facing the Texans’ fierce pass rush, led by All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt, who has two sacks and has swatted down two passes this season.

More from Buffalo Bills

Buffalo took its first loss last week to the San Diego Chargers at home while the Texans also tasted defeat for the first time last week, losing at the New York Giants.

Manuel, the Bills’ first-round pick out of Florida State last season, missed six games as a rookie because of a knee injury, but has taken all of the snaps through Buffalo’s first three games.

He has completed 63.2 percent of his throws for 613 yards and three touchdowns with one interception and has also run for 49 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Manuel’s passer rating of 90.8 this season is a significant improvement over the 77.7 mark he put up in 2013.
