Freeway World Series? Bovada says yes
By Phil Watson
Only 16 times in World Series history has the event been a one-city affair and never in Los Angeles.
Bovada.lv says that’s going to change this year as the online sports book has installed the Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers as the favorites to emerge from the American and National leagues, respectively.

The Angels are a 2/1 favorite in the American League, while the Dodgers were installed as 2/1 favorites in the NL.
Both teams were set as 5/1 co-favorites to win the entire enchilada.
Of course, an Angels-Dodgers World Series wouldn’t really be an all-Los Angeles affair, what with the Angels playing in “of Anaheim,” but with both teams bearing the Los Angeles moniker, it’s close enough for government—and online journalism—work.
Of the 16 times the World Series has been played in one city, 14 of those occurrences were in New York, with the most recent being the 2000 Fall Classic between the New York Yankees and New York Mets.
The first time it happened was in 1906, when the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs played each other. In 1944, the St. Louis Cardinals clashed with the St. Louis Browns—also the last time the entire World Series was played in one stadium. Both teams called Sportsman’s Park home.
The American League odds:
- Los Angeles Angels 2/1
- Detroit Tigers 11/4
- Baltimore Orioles 3/1
- Oakland Athletics 6/1
- Kansas City Royals 7/1
National League odds are:
- Los Angeles Dodgers 2/1
- Washington Nationals 21/10
- Louis Cardinals 17/4
- Pittsburgh Pirates 13/2
- San Francisco Giants 13/2
