Nobody will ever accuse Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey of being shy and such was evident in his recent interview with Yahoo Sports.

More from Houston Rockets

In addition to taking a shot at Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Morey also spoke about his team and suggested that he will never trade James Harden or Dwight Howard.

“We’re no different than other teams,” the Houston Rockets GM told Yahoo Sports. “We have a core of two players – Dwight Howard and James Harden – who we are going to build around and never trade.”

Morey went on to suggest that the aforementioned Mavericks have Dirk Nowitzki and the San Antonio Spurs have Tim Duncan, though I’m not sure James Harden nor Dwight Howard (talented as they are) on are on the same level. Given that, it does seem a bit premature to suggest that neither will ever be traded though it certainly doesn’t look like it will be happening during their prime.

Many have questioned the leadership ability of both Howard and Harden, especially after the two decided to throw Chandler Parsons under the bus this offseason. That seems to be one of the areas both need to drastically improve upon if the Houston Rockets are to take the next step and find themselves in contention for an NBA title.

It sounds like they don’t need to worry about changing zip codes in the near future though.
