The Chicago Bears lost a huge game on Sunday in the worst of ways as they were blown out by the Green Bay Packers at home. Jared Allen was absent for the game, and there were times where his presence could have put some much needed heat on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense.

But Allen had a pretty good excuse for not being around, as he was battling pneumonia which caused him to lose 15 pounds off of his frame. The weight loss was extreme, to say the least, and it may be a week or two until Allen is back to being close to where he was before he got ill.

Trestman spoke about Allen’s return, via CSNChicago.com, and noted that the defensive tackle was practicing once again with the team.

"“We’ll see where he is on Wednesday. It was good to see him in the building, good to see him in all the meetings, he got some work in the weight room. That’s encouraging.”"

Allen’s illness is a scary one, as it seemed to sneak up on him out of nowhere and proceeded to apparently ravage his body. He’s getting back to work, which is great, but this goes to show that even the most ferocious of bodies can be crippled and riddled by the simplest of illnesses.
