When the Los Angeles Lakers drafted Julius Randle out of Kentucky, it was assumed he’d be getting a significant amount of floor time during his rookie campaign.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

How much exactly was unknown though after the team signed Carlos Boozer, it was assumed that Julius Randle would come off the bench. The Lakers, for what it’s worth, have yet to confirm such and stated Randle could win the starting job though it’s not a concern of the former Kentucky star currently.

If the Los Angeles Lakers decide to give Carlos Boozer the starting gig, that’s fine with Randle who says Carlos Boozer has earned his stripes.

“He deserves what he gets because he’s put in the time and he’s been successful,” Randle said. “We’re both going to be on the floor, whoever starts or not; that’s not really my focus or worry.”

Speaking of earned stripes, Julius Randle also watched Kobe Bryant practice for the first time on Monday and needless to say came away impressed.

“You just see how advanced he is, and the only the answer to why he’s so advanced, is that he’s put in the work,” he said.  “He’s unbelievable.”

Starter or not, Julius Randle figures to be a vital part of the Los Angeles Lakers attack this season and should see plenty of floor time alongside his idol.
