The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets have yet to officially play a game for the 2014-15 season yet they’re already battling, at least against each other.

More from Dallas Mavericks

A budding rivalry has emerged over the past few seasons though it grew to new heights this offseason thanks to the Chandler Parsons situation. The two sides, players included, have fired shots back and forth though the ultimate insult may have come from Mark Cuban on Monday evening.

Responding to criticism from Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban suggested Morey has some ‘Donald Trump in him’.

“The only reason I’m even responding is because I respect and like Daryl, who’s smart,”Mark Cuban said. “He’s got some Donald Trump in him where he doesn’t really understand media all that well, but he’s a smart guy and one of the smartest general managers in the league. So we can have some fun going back and forth.”

Quick, somebody grab some Coppertone for the burn!

The NBA has been void of legit rivalry for quite some time so hopefully the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks will continue their side swipes as there isn’t much better as a fan. Just make sure to get your popcorn ready because it sounds like it’s going to be an explosive time when the Mavs and Rockets meet up this season.

Hopefully there is a playoff series in our future.
