The Minnesota Gophers played against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. Despite Michigan being down this year, and Brady Hoke being one of the worst coaches in the country, the Gophers faced a tough task in the Big House. They prevailed however and captured the Little Brown Jug. It means so much more than that however.

Prior to Jerry Kill coming to Minnesota, the Gophers were on a downward spiral, and things didn’t look to be fixing themselves any time soon. Then last season, the Gophers showed some promise and started the turnaround. On Saturday, the Gophers won against Michigan for the first time under Kill, and the first time since 2005.

Rivalry games are a huge part of college football, and the trophies make them that much more exciting. For the Gophers and their fans, the Little Brown Jug may be as good as it gets, and it’s been on a long hiatus from Minnesota.

With the win, the Gophers brought the jug home, and now a press releases issued by the University of Minnesota, is making it known that the Little Brown Jug will be on full display.

The details read:

"Gopher fans are invited to see the Little Brown Jug from 5:30 – 8 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 2 at the T. Denny Sanford Athletics Hall of Fame at TCF Bank Stadium. Fans are encouraged to park in the Maroon Lot adjacent to the stadium and then access the Hall of Fame through the Benton County entrance.WHAT: The Little Brown JugWHEN:5:30 – 8 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 2WHERE: T. So Gophers fans, or college football fans for that matter, make sure you go check out history while you can. The Little Brown Jug is one of the most revered trophies in college rivalry games, and if history is to be repeated, you won’t see it soon again in Minnesota.
