Nobody really knows how Rajon Rondo broke his hand though at this point it doesn’t really seem to matter. The Boston Celtics All-Star is out and won’t be back for at least 6-8 weeks, right?

Not according to Rondo himself who isn’t buying what the medical professionals are selling.

While Rajon Rondo’s injury recovery time was originally deemed to be nearly two months the former Kentucky talent believes he’ll be back sooner than expected and even hinted that he could be on the court come Opening Night.

"“They’re telling me 6-to-8 [weeks]. But that means nothing to me.”Gorman then asked if Rondo would be a possibility for Opening Night at the end of October.“Always,” Rondo said."

While that’s a nice sentiment on the part of Rondo it’s difficult to think the Boston Celtics would allow their point guard back on the court unless he was completely healthy. That seems like a rather difficult proposition unless Rajon Rondo decides to become somewhat of a medical exception during the next few weeks.

The Boston Celtics don’t expect Rajon Rondo to miss more than ten games or so but it appears as if Rondo isn’t planning on missing any.

Assuming he does miss some time, Marcus Smart is expected to handle the point guard duties and could very possibly earn some significant minutes if he plays well.
