Presumably healthy for the first time in essentially two years, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is ready to get back on the court.

What he’s not ready to do is bang knees with his opponents and the former NBA MVP hints he wants to avoid any unnecessary contact.

"Chicago needs Rose’s, certainly, after waiting for his knees and his psyche to fully mend. Being wary of unnecessary contact is one of the concessions he’ll try to make to the blown opportunities of the past two years. Not rushing to show everyone, all at once, just how back he really is? That’s another."

You have to figure the desire to avoid unnecessary contact will throw a small wrench into Derrick Rose’s game as so often he would throw himself into the paint with reckless abandonment. It sounds as if he’ll be more careful this go around (especially during the early portion of the season) and may favor his jump shot more frequently.

It’s tough to blame Derrick Rose as anybody coming off two career threatening knee injuries would likely feel the same way though you hope it doesn’t mess up his game too much as he built his style of play off penetration in the paint.

Still, it’s possible Rose could become a better shooter now which will only help him become more of a complete player.
