There are currently five Notre Dame football players that are awaiting hearings for academic issues and could end up being dismissed from the school. At this point in time, the football team has suspended them and will not allow them to play. KeiVarae Russell is one of the five players, and he took to the media to express his displeasure with how the Irish have been treating their suspended players.

From Russell’s Instagram account:

"“Noooo, still not back. It sucks. Hearing went well in my opinion thought. Was able to express my case from my POV and bring to light alot of what was false “evidence.” But they are making me wait till every hearing is done to make a decision… it sucks.”“This school is becoming ridiculous. I killed my meeting; I was so prepared and ready and was able to refute damn near every suspicion they had. Described details of assignments thoroughly so they couldn’t say I didn’t do it, AND THEY STILL SAID MY DECISION WONT COME UNTIL ALL 5 OF US (and some other minor hearings) ARE DONE. Decision MIGHT come next week, not even 100% it’s tough to understand these people..”"

Obviously this type of situation would be frustrating for anyone to go through, but this type of behavior is not the way to handle things. Russell is the one that got himself into this position, and he needs to be patient and professional as he awaits the ruling. If he is cleared to play, the Irish will immediately let him back onto the team and the situation will disappear.

Notre Dame will square off with Stanford Saturday and obviously all of these players want to play in that game. It will be interesting to hear more news about the hearings and what all is found out when everything is said and done. That being said, there is a good chance that some of the players who are currently suspended will not be back.

Expect to hear more news about this situation in the near future, but for now these comments are simply not the right course of action.
