Baltimore Ravens vs. Indianapolis Colts

On Sunday, two potential contenders in the AFC, will battle when the Baltimore Ravens hit the road to take on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Both teams are coming off impressive victories. Last week, Joe Flacco and the Ravens helped Steve Smith destroy his favorite team, defeating the Carolina Panthers 38-10. The Colts, led by a spectacular performance by star quarterback Andrew Luck, have won two straight after an 0-2 start. They defeated the Tennessee Titans 41-17 last week.

Keys to Victory

The Ravens weren’t especially impressive in their season-opener, a 23-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but the the Bengals now look like one of the league’s best teams and the Ravens have not lost since. Despite the loss of Ray Rice and an injury to Bernard Pierce, the Ravens have rushed for the eighth-most yards in the league so far. Both Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro have player well in their absence. The Colts have been pretty good against the run but they are a team you can move the ball against. Plus, Joe Flacco is playing much better this season and could exploit a suspect Colts’ pass defense that is really hurting from the loss of Robert Mathis.

On the other side, it is all about Andrew Luck. The Ravens’ defense has played the run well but have been susceptible to the pass, ranking just 24th against the pass thus far while Luck has thrown for more yards than any quarterback so far. The Ravens will obviously be gearing up for the Colts’ passing game so it may be on Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson and the Colts’ running game to open things up for Luck.

Prediction

Both teams were very impressive last week and we should be in for a very good game on Sunday. I’ll give the Colts the slight edge playing at home.
