WWE Network holding Brock Lesnar from Hell in a Cell

When Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena at WWE Night of Champions and it was determined that he would be holding on to the belt for the foreseeable future, many wondered how often he would be seen. For anyone that believed he would be on hand for Hell in a Cell this month, though, there is some bad news.

More from WWE

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, Lesnar is not booked for the event, so the title will not be defended at the show.

Brock Lesnar will not be on hand, thanks to the WWE Network, believe it or not. With the price tag being so low, basically, the company sees no reason to have the champ on for all shows going forward.

"According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar will not be a part of “Hell In A Cell” thanks in-part-to the WWE Network. With WWE’s main focus now being on their PPV events streaming through their Over-The-Top service, they feel like it doesn’t matter if the major championship is showcased on the card."

No one should really act surprised by this, given the fact that we knew this was going to happen by making the network so accessible with the low price tag per month. Brock Lesnar has a very unique contract, as we all know, so showing up on the lower-tier events is not a top priority.

But the silver lining in this is that there are a lot more talent on the roster that could get the spotlight. With Brock Lesnar away, the up-and-coming talent will get a nice pay-per-view platform to get built up to eventually challenge him for that belt down the road.
