The Carolina Panthers are trying to comeback against the Chicago Bears, and Cam Newton finally cam to life late in the second quarter.

Last season the Carolina Panthers were looking at a lost season but then ended up making the postseason as the NFC’s No. 2 seed. That’s still possible this year in a topsy-turvy conference, but the Panthers need to score points if they want to win.

It’s a simple concept but it’s amazing how many teams are incapable of scoring points. That was the case early on in Carolina as the Panthers struggled to get into the endzone and keep the Bears out.

That changed though when Cam Newton hit Greg Olsen for a touchdown to cut the Chicago lead to just a single score.

The Panthers came out with a terrible first few quarters and got behind the Bears fast. But this is a team that started 2-0 and willed their way into the No. 2 seed last season, so there is something to be said about Carolina’s resilience.

Newton and the Panthers have cut the lead to just a single score at the time, and that’s all they need to hang in there with a Bears team that can’t always close
