Toronto Raptors trade rumors were swirling last season, but even if they kick up again this year don’t expect Kyle Lowry to be mentioned.

After all of the uncertainty about his future with the Toronto Raptors during this off season, point guard Kyle Lowry is back in Toronto and it sounds like he isn’t going anywhere anytime in the foreseeable future. Last year rumors were rampant about teams trading to acquire Lowry from the Knicks to the Warriors to the Nets to the Lakers. And of course this off season there weer rumblings of Miami Heat GM Pat Riley finding a way to bring Lowry to South Beach.

Ultimately however, Lowry remained in Toronto on a huge deal and despite his general manager Masai Ujiri dangling him as a trade chip in the past he has now made a strong statement backing Lowry.

According to Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun, Ujiri made it clear to reporters that Kyle Lowry wasn’t going anywhere.

"Masai Ujiri walks up to a gaggle of reporters and upon hearing the topic of the day is Kyle Lowry immediately states “I’m not trading him.”"

This is a strong endorsement from Ujiri who is known to wheel and deal as wildly as any GM in the league and is famous for trading Nene during his time in Denver, one season after signing him to a big money deal. It seems like a wise move to clear up where he stands with Kyle Lowry after such a roller coaster of an off season for him and to put all worries out of his star player’s mind as we near the start of the new season.
