Sacramento Kings forward Derrick Williams is a player that could become very intriguing as the trade deadline approaches this season.

Derrick Williams was acquired last season from the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he may be on the move again this season. Sacramento is an intriguing team, to say the least, but they need to start building talent rather than compiling guys who are intriguing players.

Rudy Gay, DeMarcus Cousins and Nik Stauskas could be players to build around moving forward but the roster needs a lot of work. Chuck Myron from Hoops Rumors opines that Derrick Williams could be a trade chip to land Sacramento some return that could complete this roster.

"Derrick Williams has an intriguing expiring contract, and if he shows any value at all, Sacramento will no doubt remind potential trade partners that they can match offers for him in restricted free agency next summer should they choose. Unloading Williams would also help the team alleviate its glut of power forwards, and if Williams isn’t dealt, I’d expect another one of their PFs to go at some point."

Williams needs to start off the 2014-15 campaign strong to get his trade value up, but it’s something that could definitely happen. The Kings need to add to this roster and Williams seems to be the odd man out. Darren Collison was added this season to add veteran talent and the team looks to be on the rise, but Williams may end up being most valuable not on the court but in the transaction column this season.
