The Georgia Bulldogs rolled against the Missouri Tigers, cruising to an easy 34-0 victory in their first game without star running back Todd Gurley.

It was supposed to be an offensive shootout. It was supposed to be harder for the Georgia Bulldogs as they played their first game without suspended star running back Todd Gurley. It turned out to be no problem for Georgia on either front, as they overwhelmed the Missouri Tigers and won easily by a final score of 34-0.

To say that Nick Chubb filled in admirably at running back might be to understate how well he played in Gurley’s absence. Chubb ran for 143 yards and a touchdown.

It was clear that Georgia did not want to change their game plan or philosophical approach on offense in this game. They stuck to the ground game, feeding Chubb the ball an astounding 38 times and attempting 58 rushes in total. Brendan Douglas ran another 13 times for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Here was the touchdown from Chubb that put a bow on this victory.

Hutson Mason did what he needed to through the air, which wasn’t much. He played a clean but understated game, going 22-for-28 through the air for 156 yards and a touchdown.

As should be apparent from the final score, this was a total team victory for Georgia. The Bulldogs’ defense pitched a shutout and forced five turnovers. That included four interceptions against Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk, who had a terrible and miserable game. Mauk threw for just 97 yards, no touchdowns and those four picks.

There is still a long way to go for Georgia and a lot of uncertainty about what will happen with Gurley, but the Bulldogs sure made a statement with this blowout win on the road against Missouri.
