Miami Hurricanes players discuss the ‘Fire Al Golden’ banner that flew over the stadium this past Saturday before the team’s contest against Cincinnati

The Miami Hurricanes did something this past weekend that they really haven’t done in quite some time and that’s look dominant in a win. The ‘Canes, who have struggled through the season thus far, destroyed the Bearcats 55-34, even with a distracting banner flying over the stadium.

Someone had actually taken the time to fly a banner over the stadium that simply read, ‘Fire Al Golden,’ a sentiment shared by a lot of experts and Hurricanes fans alike.

But, how did some of the Miami players feel about the banner flying over the stadium? Was it a distraction?

Well, star running back Duke Johnson certainly didn’t seem to care all that much.

“I was focused on the game I had to play in a couple hours,” running back Duke Johnson said. “The banner could have landed on the field and it would have had no affect on me. I had more important things I had to focus on.”

Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett? Well, nope, he didn’t care all that much either.

“We didn’t really care,” he said. “We all saw it and we’re like ‘Wow. They did that?’ We just went in the locker room and got ready for the game and just came out and played our hardest.”
