When training camp opened for the Los Angeles Lakers, 40-year-old point guard Steve Nash suggested he was finally healthy.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

A damaging nerve issue has hampered Nash and his back since he was acquired from the Phoenix Suns two seasons ago though the veteran finally believed he was healthy this season. So far though we’ve seen the native Canadian complain of some mild issues and on Sunday, Nash pulled himself out of the Los Angeles Lakers game because he ‘didn’t feel right’.

There was no mention of what exactly was wrong with Steve Nash though the fact he ‘didn’t feel right’ has to be cause for concern.

At this point if you’re the Los Angeles Lakers, you just have to believe anything Steve Nash can provide to you as icing on the cake. It’s obvious he’s going to be hampered throughout the season and given he isn’t part of the future, you wonder just how long the Los Angeles Lakers will continue to mess with Nash receiving playing time.

If he’s healthy that’s one thing, but you don’t want a player on the court who isn’t able to give everything he has and we’ve seen how poorly Nash struggles when he’s hurt. Add in that Los Angeles has both Jeremy Lin and Jordan Clarkson on the roster and you have to believe they’d be better served by giving the youth time over Nash, especially since he’s not part of the Lakers future.

Keeping Nash around for the remainder of the season thanks to his ability to be a player/coach seems logical, though until he proves he’s completely healthy the Lakers might want to move on.
