Packers’ Davante Adams earning Rodgers’ trust

Green Bay Packers’ rookie wide receiver Davante Adams is earning Aaron Rodgers’ trust.
The Green Bay Packers’ offense has finally begun to play at the high level that many expected from them and rookie wide receiver Davante Adams is one of the main reasons. He has stepped in for the injured Jarrett Boykin and has been playing at a very high level the past few weeks. Adams has been playing so well in fact, that he has been earning Aaron Rodgers’ trust.

“It’s huge. The more I’m doing the right thing, I can get a lot of trust with the wideouts and the coaches and that’s when they start doing things and trusting me and put me in on third down and stuff like that. If I wasn’t doing what I’m supposed to be doing, Aaron’s not going to throw me the ball on third down. That’s just the way it is. I feel like I’m doing pretty well. You can always get better and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Rodgers has definitely been looking to Adams in key areas of the game, most notably on the fake spike that ended up putting them in position to win the game against the Miami Dolphins Sunday. Boykin was expected to have a breakout season with the Packers, but with the way that Adams has been playing he might not even get his spot back when he gets healthy. There is no question that Adams has the potential to be a very good receiver in the future.
Adams has 16 receptions for 167 yards and a touchdown, with his biggest game by far coming against the Dolphins. He has great speed, route-running, and hands, and is a hard worker and love to learn. The Packers’ coaching staff loves having him around and they are very high on him moving forward.
Green Bay’s offense still has potential to improve and Adams is one of the main pieces that can still take steps forward. Adams will be a key piece moving forward for the Packers, and is playing for what could end up being the third receiver slot. Boykin coming back will put pressure on Adams to continue playing well and the Packers will have a tough decision to make on who to play.
