Portland Trail Blazers’ guard Damian Lillard talks about NBA Live 15, the soundtrack and his #4BarFriday movement

In just his second season in the NBA, Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard Damian Lillard was named to the All-Star team, participated in every event during All-Star weekend and helped the Blazers defeat the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. Lillard was rewarded for his play by being named the cover-boy of NBA Live 15.

That’s something that means a great deal to Lillard.

“When you were a kid and you played the video game, I remember what year the game was because I would say Mitch Richmond was on the cover of that one or Antoine Walker was on the cover of that one,” Lillard explained. “Now people will say the same thing about me. 2015, that was when Damian Lillard was on the cover.”

One of the best features about NBA Live 15 is the soundtrack that music curator MICK put together.

Lillard is a big fan of some of the more popular songs on the soundtrack like “Don’t Tell Em” by Jeremih and “Still Dipset” by Federal Reserve but Lillard mentioned one lesser known track that really caught his attention.

”The one that I actually heard that I hadn’t heard before was “Born and Raised” by Smif N Wessum,” Lillard said.

Lillard believes the soundtrack is reflective of what NBA players and fans are listening to now and his opinion  on music holds a lot of weight considering he started his own lyrical movement – #4BarFriday. #4BarFriday is a weekly instagram based freestyle competition. You have 15 seconds to freestyle and the four best freestyles will be featured on 4BarFriday.com every Friday.

”4 Bar Friday has been a lot bigger than I ever expected it to be,” said Lillard. “It’s grown into a community where I’ve actually gotten to know a lot of artists through 4 Bar Friday. It’s been fun to be a part of when I do my four bars and seeing the response that I get from fans and from the people that are on there every week. I appreciate all of the support.”

Lillard even believes he may have a song on NBA Live one day.

“I definitely think that’s possible. I have to get some songs out before I can get on a soundtrack on a video game but I definitely think that can happen one day.”

NBA Live 15 will officially be released on October 28, but you can find the complete track listing for the NBA Live 15 soundtrack below:
