Taj Gibson Could Be Toronto Raptors Trade Target

While the Toronto Raptors have Patrick Patterson on their roster, there’s been whispers suggesting they’re looking to add additional help to their front line.

On Tuesday there were rumors suggesting Jeff Green of the Boston Celtics could be a potential trade target though Joel Brigham of Basketball Insiders believes another player could be of interest to the Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls big man Taj Gibson.

Gibson’s name was littered in trade rumors this offseason though the Bulls never pulled the trigger and quickly suggested Gibson wasn’t available. Was that nothing more than damage control? Perhaps, though it seems hard to believe the Chicago Bulls would rid themselves of Taj Gibson without some serious assets coming back their way.

Do the Toronto Raptors have enough to make a deal?

"There aren’t a lot of top-flight power forwards available right now (everybody’s super optimistic about where they stand right now), but there’s no way the Raptors are going to get someone great without giving up some assets. Masai has been great about accumulating picks, so he’s got some things to work with, but getting a top-flight PF won’t be easy. Taj Gibson might become available, and he’d be a fun guy to have in there."

There’s no denying that the Toronto Raptors have some nice pieces to make a deal though it remains to be seen if they’d have enough to acquire Taj Gibson who’s value is sky high. It’s also not known if the Chicago Bulls would even entertain the thought of trading him within the conference if they were to make such a move.

For now it doesn’t appear that Taj Gibson is likely to be traded though things could change come the deadline depending on how the season goes for the Chicago Bulls.
