A lot has changed for the New York Knicks, with Phil Jackson’s presence casting a shadow over the organization, Derek Fisher taking over as head coach and quite a bit of roster changes. What doesn’t change is the precense of star Carmelo Anthony, despite a long free agency. But Anthony’s play could see some changes.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, Anthony alludes to being a more efficient scorer that in year’s past.
Even if he says doesn’t expect to take as many shots, I’ll believe it when I see it. The truth is, the Knicks don’t have many guys who can do anything as well as Melo shoots. They will need him to be great and to take over games if they want to compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
As far as winning the scoring title, Anthony actually has a good opportunity. LeBron James has already stated his desire to not have the ball in his hands as much, and Kevin Durant will miss time as he recovers from a foot injury. That leaves guys like Anthony and James Harden in position to make a run at the scoring title.
