To think, this was the same week that we thought Trevone Boykin would miss a month’s worth of action with a broken wrist. That premature report obviously wasn’t true, and on Saturday Boykin served notice that he and Horned Frogs are going to be fine. TCU beat Oklahoma State by a final score of 42-9 in Big 12 action.

Boykin was so good in this game that he earned some time to relax in the fourth quarter. In a little over three quarters of action, Boykin threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns. He pitched in another 41 yards on the ground. B.J. Catalon led the way on the ground for TCU, rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns. All told, the TCU offense gained an astounding 675 total yards in this game.

This victory wasn’t just about the offense, however. The TCU defense, just one week removed from surrendering a cool 61 points to the Baylor Bears, came through with a bounce-back effort in this game. They allowed just 258 total yards, 9 points, and forced two turnovers.

It was a day to forget for Oklahoma State quarterback Daxx Garman. He went 10-for-25 for 132 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. Desmond Roland chipped in 84 yards on the ground, though many of those yards came in meaningless moments, as TCU was up 21-3 after the first quarter.

Both of these teams entered this conference showdown with something to prove. Oklahoma State was looking to prove that they still possess the type of potent offensive attack to hang with the likes of TCU and Baylor. As for the Horned Frogs, they were looking for a statement win after such a tough loss last week.

With this blowout result, the Horned Frogs have buoyed their hopes for the season, while the Cowboys are left looking for answers.
