Colt McCoy has best NFL game of career, but still gets no respect

Minutes after leading the Washington Redskins to a 19-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans, quarterback Colt McCoy addressed the media during the post game press conference. Apparently, one reporter didn’t get the memo that the team had benched starter Kirk Cousins after the first half.

Colt McCoy took this in stride, and even had some fun with it.

The Redskins benched the ineffective Kirk Cousins after trailing 10-6 at halftime. Cousins was not playing poorly for the most part. He was 10-16 for 138 yards and an interception.

McCoy came in and went an impressive 11-12 for 128 yards and a touchdown while leading the Redskins offense to 13 second half points.

There now seems to be a quarterback controversy in Washington once again. Last year it was between Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins after Cousins played well while Griffin was hurt. Now with Griffin hurt again and Cousins struggling, the team elected to try out McCoy. I guess they figured that they couldn’t do much worse.

In fact, they found a guy that could lead them to a win. There is no word on whether McCoy will start next week, but it would not surprise anyone after the second half that Colt McCoy had.
