Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo will miss the rest of the season with a pectoral injury.

It’s been a rough season for the Washington Redskins despite a two-point victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and it’s only going to get tougher.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, All-Pro linebacker Brian Orakpo will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle.

Does that sound familiar to you? It should as Brian Orakpo previously missed the nearly the entire 2012 season with a nearly identical injury, though this time the torn muscle is on the right side and not the left.

While Brian Orakpo hasn’t exactly played up to his expectations this season it’s still a tough blow for an already struggling Washington Redskins defense.

A year after amassing ten sacks, Orakpo was struggling to find the signal caller this season as he has only been attributed for a half sack. He does have 24 total tackles however which will be missed.

What this means for his future with the Washington Redskins is unknown. Might they simply cut ties with the veteran given he routinely finds himself battling injury? Combine that with his decline in play and the Redskins cap figure and you wonder if Orakpo has played his final game for the franchise.

Either way, we won’t be seeing the linebacker back on the field this season in what is proving to be yet another trying year for the Washington Redskins. Hopefully Robert Griffin III comes back in the near future and gives the franchise something to smile about as they desperately need something to go their way.
