The

New York Knicks

had a busy offseason in the

NBA

, mostly because of one big deal with the

Dallas Mavericks

that sent point guard Raymond Felton and center Tyson Chandler to Dallas and a package featuring point guard Jose Calderon and center Samuel Dalembert. The Knicks are clearly hoping that move pays off and they can get back to the postseason.

Cody Taylor of Basketball Insiders could see those moves paying off and put the New York Knicks in the playoffs.

"With the moves that have been made over the offseason, I could see the New York Knicks being a team to make some noise during the season and sneak into the playoffs. I think one of the most underrated moves of the offseason was the Knicks bringing in Jose Calderon. He gives the team a legitimate option at point guard and has proven that he won’t turn the ball over. Calderon should thrive in the Knicks’ new triangle offense under Derek Fisher as he’s an excellent three-point shooter."

Taylor is right about Calderon. After having Felton at the point, Calderon should be a massive upgrade. On problem the New York Knicks could have if defending the rim. Chandler, when healthy, was an elite defensive player. Dalembert will have to try and fill that void which is easier said that done.

Of course, if the New York Knicks want to get in, someone will have to drop out. The Indiana Pacers seem like a good pick to miss the postseason. The Brooklyn Nets could, too. Especially if Brook Lopez is out again. The East is still very far behind the West but should be a much more competitive conference this year than it was last year.
