The SEC appears to be more powerful than ever.

They have three of the top four teams in both the USA Today Coaches poll and the Associated Press poll – the Mississippi State Bulldogs are No. 1, the Ole Miss Rebels are No. 3 and the Alabama Crimson Tide are No. 4 (the defending National Champion Florida State Seminoles are No. 2).

Plus, they are in their first year of the SEC Network, an ESPN channel dedicated solely to the conference.

Nerbaska Cornhuskers‘ head coach Bo Pelini is worried about the relationship between the SEC and ESPN and believes it is not good for college football.

“I don’t think that kind of relationship is good for college football. That’s just my opinion,” Bo Pelini said at his Monday news conference via Huskers.com . “Anytime you have a relationship with somebody, you have a partnership, you are supposed to be neutral. It’s pretty hard to stay neutral in that situation.”

Bo Pelini recognizes the SEC is a great conference but believes other conferences are to. Without more crossover between conferences, he doesn’t think you truly know how good each conference is and believes fans simply go by what the media says.

“They play good football, and I know there is some good football played in some other conferences, too,” Bo Pelini said. “It’s hard to say because you just don’t see, unfortunately, in this day and age, a lot of crossovers. So you don’t get a lot to make that decision on, to be able to compare and contrast. You have to go off what the media says to a certain extent and what some people say.”

Bo Pelini’s Huskers are 6-1 with their only loss coming in a narrow defeat at the fifth-ranked Michigan State Spartans. Three one-loss SEC teams are ranked ahead of them.
